HYDERABAD: Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who is preparing for her streaming special for India’s version of ‘Citadel’, celebrated Thursday one year after being diagnosed with the autoimmune disease myositis.
The actress shared a series of photos and videos on Instagram from the beautiful Church of St. Sava in Belgrade, Serbia. She released a long, detailed and moving message that talks about her own struggle over the past year and the lessons she’s learned from it.
She writes: “It’s been a year since my diagnosis. A year since I was forced into the new normal.”
Myositis is a rare disease that causes inflammation of the muscles and various symptoms such as weakness, fatigue, difficulty swallowing and breathing. Muscles of the shoulders, hips, and thighs are particularly affected, but other affected areas such as the skin, lungs, and heart can also be affected.
Samantha detailed her own struggles, stating, “A lot of struggles with my body… not taking salt, sugar, grains in my main course, drinking drug cocktails, forced shutdowns, forced I rebooted properly.” And she is introspective. Also from professional failings to make things more interesting.
“A year of prayer and puja. Don’t pray for blessings and gifts, just find strength and peace.” It was a year that taught us that things don’t always go according to plan. And more importantly, it’s okay if you don’t. You must control what you can control, let go of the rest, and move forward step by step. Sometimes big success doesn’t matter and future performance is the win.
“I can’t sit and wait for everything to be perfect again or dwell on the past.” Do not force. Many of you will be fighting an even tougher battle. I pray for you too. The gods may hesitate, but they never deny. They never deny those who seek peace, love, joy and strength. “It’s the only one worth looking for,” she added.
The actress is currently working on the Telugu film Khushi and the British romantic comedy Chennai Story.
