Young pacer in line for Test debut as Sri Lanka name squad for Pakistan series

Sri Lanka have named a strong 16-man squad for a two-match Test series against Pakistan starting on 16 July.

After an impressive start to his white team career, left pacer Dilshan Madushanka is looking to make his Test debut He has been called up to the Sri Lanka national team for two Test matches against Pakistan.

The 22-year-old had played 6 ODIs, 11 T20Is so far and was in the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squad before suffering an injury.

He was recently named Player of the Match in the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifying Final against the Netherlands after scoring 3/18 in an impressive new-ball season.

Dimus Karnalatne remains captain despite recently announcing his intention to step down from his future role in his new ICC World Test Championship cycle.

Off-spinner Laksita Manasinha is another newcomer to the team. Ofspinner was called up to the test squad for last year’s match against Pakistan, replacing Mahesh Teekshana, but did not make his debut.
